Weekly Road Construction Report

Here is the weekly road construction report for Hamilton County:

I-75 at I-24 Interchange Reconstruction: Crews may continue surveying at various locations throughout the interchange. Shoulders may be closed at these locations between 9 a.m.-3 p.m. A hauling operation will continue requiring a single left or right lane closure on I-24 EB at MM 185. Haul trucks will be entering and exiting the interstate at these locations. This lane closure will occur nightly between 9 p.m.-6 a.m. On Sunday on I-24 at MM 185, there will be a single left or right lane closure; on I-75 at MM 1.5, there will be a single left lane closure; on I-24 EB at MM 183, traffic pacing for traffic shift from I-24 EB to I-75 NB with troopers present. On Monday on I-24 EB at MM  185, there will be a single left or right lane closure; on I-75 SB at MM 1.8, there will be a single right lane closure; on I-24 EB at MM 183 and I-75 SB at MM3, traffic pacing with troopers present. [C.W. US-27 (I-124) Widening from I-24/US-27 interchange to north of the Olgiati Bridge over the Tennessee River, including widening the Olgiati Bridge: Work on this project continues with activities occurring on the west side of southbound US-27. Motorists should be alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the area along the access ramps for eastbound and westbound M. L. King Boulevard. The speed limit for the access ramp is 35 MPH. In addition, the southbound ramp from W. Main St.to southbound US-27 has been temporarily closed and will remain so until further notice. Detours are posted. Motorists should pay close attention to the detour signage posted. The speed limit on US-27 in the construction zone remains 45 MPH. Weather permitting; the contractor may implement temporary lane/shoulder closures on weeknights between the hours of 7 p.m.-6 a.m. At least one lane will remain open in each direction on US-27. RESTRICTIONS: I-124 (US-27)Northbound Exit 1C 4th St Off Ramp: No oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27)Southbound Exit 1C 4th St Of Ramp: On oversize/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound Exit 1A-B Martin Luther King Blvd. Off Ramp: No oversized/over dimensional loads; I-124 (US-27) Southbound On Ramps from Martin Luther King Blvd.: No oversized/over dimensional loads. Utility Work on SR-58 (HWY. 58) westbound from LM 4.73 to LM 4.73: Utility work on SR-58 between SR-153 NB on ramp and Murray Hill Drive, right hand turning lane. Arrow board and signage will be present during this work. Motorists should use caution and be aware of flaggers. Work will take place through Friday.

SR-111 Repair of bridge over SR-29 (US-27): During this report period, the contractor will have one lane closed in each direction of SR-111 while performing bridge repairs. The contractor will also be closing one lane in each direction on SR-29 as it passes under SR-111. One lane in each direction will remain open at all times. Tennessee Highway Patrol will be present to assist with traffic control. Estimated project completion date is October. [Mid-State Construction Company, Inc./Osbonlighter/CNT096] 

Cleaning of the McCallie Tunnel on SR-2 (US-64, US-11), the Stringers Ridge Tunnel on SR-8 (US-127), and the Bachman Tubes on SR-8 (US-76, US-41): Tunnel cleaning will take place at the McCallie tunnels supported by a flagging operation on Wednesday from 8 p.m.-6 a.m. Additionally, The Stringers Ridge tunnel will be cleaned later that night supported by a signed detour. SR-153 Resurfacing from north of Shallowford Road (LM 2.6) to north of SR-58 (LM 4.8), including bridge deck repair: Paving will continue Sunday through Thursday during this reporting period. All work will occur between 8 p.m.-6 a.m. and could involve double lane closures in either the NB or SB direction. At least one lane will remain open in each direction during the construction activity. Estimated project completion date is November. [Wright Brothers Construction Company, Inc./Micka/CNT087]

SR-2 (US-11, US-64) Resurfacing from east of Shallowford Road (LM 18.6) to Yerbey Drive (LM 20.3): During this report period, the contractor will have lane closures while performing resurfacing operations. Lane closures will be limited to one lane at any given time. SR-8 (Signal Mountain Boulevard) in both directions from LM 15.6 to LM 16.2: Signal Mountain Boulevard from LM 15.7 to LM 16.2 will be reduced to one lane controlled by a temporary traffic signal. The southbound lane will be closed as the maintenance contractor will be working on installing a soil nail retaining wall. [GeoStabilization International, LLC /Osbonlighter/MAINT]
