Cleveland State Cross Country raced well at UTC’s Twilight Meet at Camp Jordan Park on Friday night against some strong competition.
The men raced a 7k and placed 5th overall. Derek Gallardo raced especially well, placing 11th out of 96 total runners with a time of 22:16.53. Diego Guzman finished just behind Gallardo, placing 13th with a time of 22:18.09.
Erik Martinez cracked the top 30, placing 29th with a time of 22:48.81. Riley Higginbotham also had a strong showing for the Cougars, finishing the race with a mark of 24:22.49.
On the women’s side, Angie Torres led the way with Sadie Lane just behind her, as they ran 4k times of 19:22.60 and 19:44.48. Alexis Kyle was also near the pair of Lady Cougars finishing with a time of 20:23.18. The Cleveland State women placed 7th overall as a team.
Both teams will next participate in the Maryville Invitational in Maryville, Tenn. on Fri, Sept. 27. Meet time is set for 7:00 ET.
