The Dalton State Women's Soccer team got back to .500 on the season with their second win in less than a week with a 3-0 victory over Johnson (Tenn.) in non-conference action at Lakeshore Park Soccer Complex on Monday evening.

The Lady Roadrunners set the pace of the match early, getting multiple shots off on Lady Royals goalkeeper Jallie Bullock. Andrea Lopez, who got two goals last match against Johnson, looked to pick up where she left off by getting four good looks at the net in the first 14 minutes.
Two shots went high, one wide, and the other was saved by Bullocks.

Dalton State got eight shots total on Bullock in the first 15 minutes of play with Bullock collecting five saves. Still, the Lady Birds continued to press. They got six more opportunities before striking in the 39' when Keyle Snyder put the Lady Roadrunners on the board, 1-0, on an assist from Jacqueline Tapia.

A little over a minute later, DS got goal number two when Selina Vazquez headed in a ball to the upper 90 that began on a corner kick from Adriana Delgado to Adrianna Arjoon. The pace slowed with the half closing in as the Lady Roadrunners took a 2-0 lead into the break.

The second period began as a defensive struggle with both teams looking to break through. Dalton State did so first as they pressed the ball into Lady Royal territory nine minutes in. Delgado once again lined up for a corner and let it fly. The ball bounced around in front of the goal and was controlled by Tapia who kicked is past Bullock for a 3-0 lead.

With the lead, the Lady Birds slowed the pace and continued to play strong defense only going on the offensive when they needed. It created a back-and-forth struggle for offensive possession between both squads and created scoring chances for the Lady Royals, but they could not convert.

As time ticked off and the buzzer sounded, Dalton State got back to .500 on the season with the 3-0 win over Johnson.

Dalton State (Ga.) improves to (2-2 overall) with the win, while Johnson (Tenn.) falls to (1-5 overall) with the loss. Senior Jacqueline Tapia had a healthy stat line for the Lady Roadrunners with one goal and one assist on the night. Keyle Snyder and Selina Vazquez also added goals, with Adrianna Arjoon and Adriana Delgado notching assists.

Mattie Dollar got the start and the win with a quiet night in goal. She was relieved by Sydnee Newton who got a bit more action, collecting three saves. Andrea Lopez was credited with seven shots, four of which came on goal to lead the Lady Roadrunners.

Jallie Bullock had 11 saves, allowing just three goals for the Lady Royals. Four Johnson players had shots with three coming on goal.

The Lady Roadrunners outshot the Lady Royals 23-4 overall and 15-3 on goal. Corner kicks also went the way of the Lady Birds, 6-1.

Dalton State will be back in action on Wednesday, September 18 when they will square off with Shorter (Ga.) as part of a doubleheader with the men's team. Action is scheduled to kickoff at 5:00 p.m. at Lakeshore Park in Dalton.
