Ramona Kleehammer, loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at the age of 82 on Wednesday, September 25, 2019, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Ramona was born in Boston, In., to Richard and Gayle Smith. She attended Indiana University and was a registered nurse. After meeting her husband, Colonel Daniel S. Kleehammer DDS, they embarked on a loving tour of the US and the world as he served in the United States Army in both peacetime and war. They were married 47 years and were long-term residents of Valparaiso, In., and Hilton Head Island, S.C.
Ramona was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, William Smith.
She leaves behind a legacy of four children: Richard (Patty) of Edmond, Ok.; Chris (Pat) of Chattanooga; Kelly O’Hara (Tom) of Columbus, Oh.; and Mark (Stephanie) of New Orleans, La.; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A funeral mass in memory of Ramona will be held on Monday, Sept. 30, at noon, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, 930 Ashland Terrace, Chattanooga, Tn. 37415.
Interment will follow at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, friends may consider donations to the American Heart Association.
