Thomas Gaines
Thomas William Gaines, 77, went home to be with the Lord on September 24, 2019, in Chattanooga.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ada Parker Gaines and father, R. Z. Gaines.
Thomas was a faithful member of Second Missionary Baptist Church, he served on the Usher Board and a member of Family 9. He was a member of Armistice Lodge #440 and a volunteer at Senior Neighbors.
Thomas is survived by sisters, Marilyn K. Chavis of New York, Carolyn (Steve) Harris; caregiver, Jackie Knight; niece and caregiver, LaTonya Howard, all of Chattanooga; uncle, Rev. Carl Gaines of Louisiana; special family friends, Lamar and Dedra Partridge and family; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and church family.
Public viewing will begin at 9 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 4, at Second Missionary Baptist Church.
The Elks Ceremony will begin at 10:30 a.m. and the family will receive friends from 11 a.m. until the funeral service at noon. The officiant will be Dr. Ernest Reid, pastor.
Interment will be in Highland Memorial Gardens.
