UTC's Ford Named STATS FCS Honorable Mention

Monday, September 9, 2019
University of Tennessee at Chattanooga running back Ailym Ford is on the honorable mention list for the STATS FCS National Player of the Week, announced earlier today.  Ford led the Mocs with 127 rushing yards at No. 17/18 Jacksonville State on Saturday.

Ford was one of six student-athletes on the honorable mention list for their play from Sept. 5-8. He posted his rushing totals on 22 carries, averaging 5.8 yards per attempt.  He also had his second rushing touchdown of the season, while totaling the most rushing yards in the SoCon last week.

Ford is the first true freshman to rush for 100 yards in a game at UTC in nearly 13 years.  The last to do it was Erroll Wynn who had 131 against Jacksonville State on Nov.
4, 2006.

Ford is fourth in the SoCon with 88.5 rushing yards per game.  He led the Mocs with 50 rushing yards and a TD on 12 carries in the season opener against Eastern Illinois. He was the first true freshman to score in a debut since Chris Awuah in 2009.  All of his action has come in the last six quarters.

The Mocs take their 1-1 record to Knoxville, Tenn., this weekend to take on the Tennessee Volunteers (0-2).  Game time is Noon (E.D.T.) on the SEC Network and WFLI 1070 / 97.7 FM.
