Royce Dean Gouge, 73, passed away on January 12, 2020.

Major Gouge was a highly-decorated helicopter and fixed wing pilot in the United States Army. He served in the Vietnam War, and retired after 27 years of service earning the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Air Medal.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Beatrice Gouge, and his sister, Kathy Gouge Garland.

Royce is survived by his wife of 30 years, Joyce Mathis Gouge; son, Kevin Gouge; daughter, Mitzie Reed; sister, Karen (James) Gouge Greene; grandchildren, Hayley Kristine McPeake, Anayla Gabrielle Weber, Lauren Annalise Gouge and Aidan Thomas Reed as well as great-grandchild, Marley Yvonne Icard.

A graveside service will be conducted for Major Gouge on Friday, January 17, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery with full military honors. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
