Billy Rand “Sully” Sullivan, 86, formerly of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, January 11, 2020, in Savannah, Georgia.

Billy was born in Princeton, North Carolina to the late Allison and Mary Alice Sullivan.  He served our country for over 30 years in the United States Army during the Korean War and Vietnam.  Billy was a retired Sergeant Major where he was awarded the Purple Heart, Silver Star and Bronze Star. Billy also retired from Safeco Insurance in Atlanta. He was a member of the Chickamauga Fly and Bait Casting Club in Soddy Daisy.  Billy was a member of Richmond Hill Church of Christ, Richmond Hill, Ga.   

Billy is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Danny) Smiddy; close family friend, Lisa (Hank) Looney; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, and 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Thursday at the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home.

Funeral services for “Sully” will follow at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 16, at the North Chapel with his Pastor Riley Nelson officiating.  Burial will be in National Cemetery with full military honors performed by the United States Army.  

Arrangements are by the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson, Tn. 37343.
