Cecil “Gene” Humphreys, Jr. celebrated his 55th birthday in Heaven on January 12, 2020.  

Gene was a member of New Shepherd Hill Baptist Church.  He had an associate’s degree in Theology and was a youth pastor, choir leader, and evangelist.  Gene loved people, helping anyone he could in need.  He loved his family and will be greatly missed. 

Gene is survived by his wife of 32 years, Tammy D. Ramsey Humphreys; parents, Cecil and Helen Daugherty Humphreys; son, Matthew E. Humphreys; mother and father in law, Ronnie and Shirley Friddell Ramsey; brother and sister in laws, Ronald (Stephanie) Ramsey and Donald (Tammy) Ramsey, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, Jan. 16, from 12–2:30 p.m. at Turner Funeral Home at Highway 58.  A graveside service will follow at 3 p.m. at New McDonald Cemetery in Ooltewah with Brother Felton Maughon, Brother Kenneth McElhaney and Brother Donald Ramsey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Vanderbilt Renal Transplant Clinic, 1301 Medical Center Dr. # 2501, Nashville, Tn. 37232.
