Nina Thomas
Nina Jo (McNeil) Thomas, age 89, of Dayton, passed away Sunday afternoon, January 12, 2020, at her home in Dayton.
She was born on Aug. 6, 1930, in LaFollette, the daughter of the late Veta and Lige Newby.
Jo was also preceded in death by her husband Robert Carroll Thomas, Sr., her son Robert “Bobby” Thomas, Jr., granddaughter Amie Laymon, and grandson Andrew Thomas.
Jo lived in Dayton most of her life. She was an LPN and a volunteer at Rhea Nursing Home. She was a long-time member of the North Dayton Church of God.
She is survived by her daughters, Karon (Randall) Watts of Dayton, Janice Parks of Lenoir City and Phyllis (Ralph) Shelton of Erin; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Jo will be held Thursday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dwayne Reddin officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband Carroll in Rhea Memory Gardens.
The family is being cared for by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Wednesday afternoon from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
