Margaret Swartout
Margaret M. Swartout, 79, of Chattanooga, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2020, at her residence.
She was the daughter of the late Jack and Viola Massey and was preceded in death by her husband, James C. Swartout, granddaughter, Amanda Swartout and three siblings, Calvin Massey, Jackie Brundage and Elsie Gifford.
Margaret retired from CARTA where she worked as an accountant.
She was of the Baptist faith.
Margaret was a huge fan of Alabama football, The Lady Vols and Elvis Presley. Her greatest love was her family and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed gathering for lunch with her retired friends.
Survivors include her four children, Jeff (Kay) Swartout, of Harrison, Greg Swartout, Kaylyn Peluso, Wes Swartout, all of Chattanooga, Heather (Aaron) Bradford, of Ringgold, five grandchildren, Zac Swartout, Jamie Peluso, Jackson, Sawyer and Caroline Bradford, brother, David Massey, of Chattanooga, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Sunday, Jan. 19, in the Valley View Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home with Pastor Glenn Moseley officiating. Interment will follow at Lakewood Memory Gardens – East.
The family will receive friends from 4–7 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, and from 11 a.m.–noon on Sunday, Jan. 19, at the funeral home.
