From Feb. 26-29, Family Search will host RootsTech, the “world’s largest family celebration event designed to help individuals and families discover and celebrate their family heritage – past, present and future.”
2020 marks the 10-year anniversary of the event where “photo organizers, storytellers and family historians from around the globe come together to help you discover and celebrate your story.”
FamilySearch International is the hosting organization of RootsTech.
FamilySearch International is the largest genealogy organization in the world and is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
RootsTech is held in Salt Lake City, Ut. Dr. Henry Louis Gates, Jr., host of the PBS series Finding Your Roots, keynoted RootsTech 2018. This year, former pro football Hall of Famer running back Emmitt Smith will be among the 2020 keynotes.
On Saturday, Feb. 29 at 11:30 a.m., Elder Gary E. Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and his wife, Sister Lesa Stevenson, will be the featured speakers at RootsTech Family Discovery Day. Family Discovery Day is a free one-day event at the RootsTech family history conference. Attend the event in person or watch the Livestream from anywhere in the world at ChurchofJesusChrist.org.
Many other RootsTech speeches and workshops will also be available for viewing at rootstech.org. Streaming sessions include how to take your photography to the next level; how to use photography as you document your family story; how to get started on FamilySearch; adding branches to your family tree using DNA; finding your elusive female ancestors; how to discover, gather and connect with loved ones and ancestors by using new techniques; tackling difficult chapters of our family history; German research for the everyday American; how city directories and other new collections can advance your research; how to care for and preserve every type of textile; how to get your children and grandchildren involved in family history; and more.
The free streaming schedule will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 10 a.m. Sessions will also be available to view on demand after the Livestream ends. All, including those in the greater Chattanooga area, are invited to participate.
