Gregory Dean Rittgers
Gregory Dean Rittgers passed away peacefully surrounded by those he loved on January 6, 2020.
He was born in Atlanta, Georgia, on January 17, 1956. He was a graduate of Hixson High School, class of 1974 and received his associate's degree from Cleveland State. Greg owned and operated Rittgers Dental Laboratory for over 40 years. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, which is where he was baptized, confirmed, and where he also married the love of his life, Kathy Rittgers, to whom he was married for 41 years.
Greg was preceded in death by his sons, Gregory Dean Rittgers, Jr. and Ryne Rittgers; his father, John Rittgers, and his mother-in-law, Joan Merriman.
Left behind to cherish Greg’s memory are his loving wife, Katherine Merriman Rittgers, children, Jenny Rittgers, and Brandon (Whitney) Rittgers, mother: Mary Rittgers, father-in-law, Daniel P. Merriman, and many loving and much loved sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A Celebration of Greg’s Life Funeral Mass will be held in the OLPH Catholic Church on Thursday Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. with Father Mike Creson officiating. The family will receive friends at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home on Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 4-8 p.m. He will be laid to rest in the Mount Olivet Cemetery.
