Now celebrating its ninth year as Chattanooga State’s signature “FUNdraising” event, Dinner of Firsts 2020 Remix will provide all the laughter, just as it has in the past, along with a slight twist as the event goes virtual and free of charge for 2020. The event is set for Thursday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m.
Each year Dinner of Firsts honors a community leader who is the first in their family to attend college. This year the 2020 Remix celebrates some of the past honorees that will include clips with many of its roasters.
Stacey Lightfoot from the Public Education Foundation serves as event chair with co-hosts and presenting sponsors Jay Dale, market president of First Horizon and Greg Vital, president and CEO of Independent Healthcare Properties & Morning Pointe.
During these uncertain times, scholarship support for students remains vital. Chattanooga State graduates are essential to the Chattanooga area’s workforce, and Chattanooga State is proud of its 97 percent job placement rate. Although tickets are not being sold to this year’s virtual event, organizers hope the public will consider a tax-deductible donation as an alternative to buying tickets or sponsorships. Please visit chattanoogastate.edu/dof for ways to support this need.
The Dinner of Firsts event was established to provide scholarships to help support first-generation college students. Since 2012, over $482,000 has been raised for Chattanooga State students.
