Sturgeon, Jennifer (Cleveland)

  • Thursday, October 29, 2020
Jennifer Sturgeon, 52, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020. As a Cleveland native, Jennifer was the most hospitable and kindhearted woman many of you knew personally.

Jennifer (mom) is survived by her daughters, Savannah, Emma and Grace, as well as her mother and father, Beverly and David Johnson.

Jennifer studied exercise physiology at Belmont University and went on to become a successful exercise trainer. She then began raising her three daughters and continued to be a very successful runner and ran a half marathon before developing lupus in 2008.

Jennifer was a dedicated mom from her first day on the job. Her first daughter, Savannah, was born with severe eye complications and Jennifer quit her job to raise her daughter without a second thought.

And because Jen is competitive, she decided to have a second child 13 months after her first. Luckily her second daughter, Emma, enjoyed running much more than Savannah.

But it wasn’t until Jen had “baby Grace” that a favorite kid was established.

Jennifer was the queen of making you laugh unintentionally. She proudly sang lyrics wrong and could not seem to remember the name of any actor in any movie ever, but it was apparently always “on the top of her tongue.”

She had elegant style that her daughters desperately try to emulate, and a passion for serving others that was expressed rhythmically in her daily life.

Many of you know Jennifer would give you the shirt off her back, a place to stay or sound advice about why you should, indeed, buy that handbag. She loved loving people. And she was a light to so many. And because of this, we ask that if you do attend her funeral, please avoid wearing black. She loved color and brightness. And we will celebrate her as such.

Her memorial service will be held on Friday afternoon at Cleveland Companion Funeral Home, with visitation from 1-3 p.m. Service will begin at 3 p.m. by Curt Mckee. But Jennifer will likely arrive 90 minutes late to be consistent with her tardy track record. If you’d like to attend, please contact her daughter, Savannah, at 615-517-6599 for details. To send flowers, please send them to 2011 Quail Hollow, Cleveland, Tn. 37312
