Married 55 Years, Was Concrete Finisher

Albert Gibson, 84, transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home on October 2, 2020 at 7:15 a.m. at Hospice of Chattanooga. He born in Freewood, Ms. on May 12, 1936 to the late Cornelius and Mary Gibson.     

Albert attended school in Crosby, Ms. On Jan. 9, 1967 he was united in Holy Matrimony to the love of his life, Ida Lee Gibson, and honored this loving commitment for 55 years until his passing. From this union, they had two wonderful children born, Tony and Vincent, the joy of their lives. 

Albert was a concrete finisher and worked alongside his brother and brother-in-law until 1962, when he moved his family to Chattanooga. In 1962 he became employed by Ingram Concrete Finishing Company as a concrete finisher. He later became the foreman supervising the building of bridges and other structures from Mississippi to Tennessee, retiring in the Summer of 2002. 

He was a man of high standard and strong family values; he did not play. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He had a master's degree in life. 

Albert was baptized at a young age at Sweet Home Baptist Church in Rosetta, Ms. after relocating to Ooltewah. He and his family joined the St. Peter Missionary Baptist Church, where he became a devoted church member and president of the usher board.  

He was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Tyrone Gibson; his parents, Cornelius and Mary Gibson; brother, Bob Gibson; and four sisters, Florence Lee (Herbert), Margaret Bateaste (Claude), Eskerlena White (Arthur) and Doris Amos (John). 

He leaves to cherish his memories, a wife, Ida Lee Gibson; son, Tony DeAndre Gibson (Marina), of Ludowici, Ga.; two grandchildren, DeAndrea Gibson, of Ludowici, Ga., and  SPC Anthony D. Gibson, of Fort Carson, Co.; great-granddaughter, Sage Rosewillow Gibbs, of Ludowici, Ga.; brother, Glennis Gibson (Doris), of Biloxi, Ms.; sister, Edith Johnson, of Gulfport, Ms.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  

Public viewing will be from 9–11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10 at the funeral home.  Funeral services will be held privately. Interment at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
