Ruby Shadden
Ruby Blevins Shadden, 95, of Chickamauga, Georgia, passed away on October 31, 2020.
Mrs. Shadden was born in Ider, Alabama, to the late Vinnie Elizabeth Bell Blevins and Eddie Lee Blevins, Sr. on December 5, 1924. She worked as an insurance agent for Edwards Insurance Agency for over 30 years. She was an active member of Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church for over 60 years where she cared for the nursery for over 20 years. She belonged to the United Methodist Women’s Organization and was involved with the J.O.Y. Sunday School class.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John Lee Shadden, Sr., whom she married on June 19, 1948, in Chattanooga; along with nine brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her children, Deborah Shadden (Reed) Freeman, of Cedartown, Georgia and John Lee (Sandy) Shadden, Jr. of Chattanooga; grandchildren, Molly (Jason) Jordan of Cedartown, GA, John (Ali) Freeman of Rome, GA, Nicholas Shadden and Catie Shadden of Chattanooga, TN; great-grandchildren, Caroline, Neelley, and Stuart Jordan of Cedartown, GA, Lawrence Freeman of Rome, GA; sister, Alta Blevins Scott of Birmingham, AL; and brother, E.L. Blevins, Jr. (Evaun) of Chickamauga, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandsons, John Reed Freeman, Nicholas Shadden, Jason Jordan, and nephews, V.C. Scott, IV, David Blevins and Barry Blevins.

A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday at Elizabeth Lee United Methodist Church with Reverend Zach Fitzpatrick officiating. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at Chattanooga National Cemetery.
