Hugh Alexander “Bassie” Jacks, 55, of Chattanooga, passed away on Thursday, November 5, 2020, at his residence.  

He was a member of First Baptist Church of Avondale.  

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Napoleon and Hattie White and Ames and Annie Lue Jacks. 

Survivors include his father, Hugh (JoAnn) Jacks; mother, Maggie Jacks; sisters, Theresa (Michael) Hines, Masheryl (William) Stegall, and Shunoa (Rodriquez) Bell; brother, Dexter Thompson; stepbrothers, Jonathan Brown and Donivan Brown; dedicated caregiver, Robert C. Stamper; a host of aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews; cousins; relatives and friends. 

Hugh will lie in state on Friday, Nov. 13, at 9 a.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

Family services will follow at noon in the chapel with Elder Eddie Darryl Jacks as the eulogist. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
