Dorris Browne
Dorris Browne 83, died peacefully at her home December 14, 2020.
Born in Knoxville on March 18, 1937, she was the eldest daughter of the late Horace and Ruth Cate. She was a 1955 graduate of Red Bank high school and a former employee of Southern Bell Telephone Co. Dorris had a natural talent and a love for music which enabled her, from a young age, to serve as organist and pianist for several area church congregations. She felt honored when, at the age of 17, she was asked to serve as pianist at the downtown Union Gospel Mission.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers, Doug, Wendell and Larry Cate and a sister, Barbara Harrell.
Dorris will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Milton, sons Toby (Joni) and Andy (LeAnn), grandsons, Brody, Gage and Tucker, brother Mike Cate, sister Marilyn Bevers, neices, nephews and many friends.
"Depart, O Christian soul, out of this world; in the name of God the Father Almighty who created you; in the name of Jesus Christ who redeemed you; in the name of the Holy Spirit who sanctifies you. May your rest be this day in peace, and your dwelling place in the Paradise of God".
There will be no visitation.
A family graveside service will be followed by interment at Chattanooga Memorial Park.
