  • Thursday, December 17, 2020

Chattanooga Gas partnered with Operation Warm to donate 200 new coats to children attending Red Bank Elementary School and Harrison Lower Elementary School. Operation Warm is a national nonprofit dedicated to providing warmth, confidence and hope for children in need through the gift of brand-new coats.

“Chattanooga Gas is dedicated to keeping everyone in our communities warm this winter,” said Pedro Cherry, president and CEO of Chattanooga Gas. “Partnering with Operation Warm to donate new winter coats to children in Hamilton County enables us to broaden our reach and give families one less issue to worry about during this extraordinarily challenging year.”

A team of Chattanooga Gas employees distributed coats between Red Bank Elementary andHarrison Lower Elementary schools on Dec. 9. School officials expressed gratitude for the gifts and shared how the coats also help students’ education outside the classroom.

“Red Bank Elementary is so grateful to Chattanooga Gas and Operation Warm for their thoughtful and generous donation of 100 coats for our students,” said Lauren Bruce, family partnership specialist for Red Bank Elementary School. “This special gift will keep our students warm at home and at school while they play and learn. Red Bank Elementary has an on-going commitment to outdoor education  from our Forest Kindergarten program to the 5th Grade Stream Team. Our students explore, discover and play outdoors each week. Now we can make sure that every student who needs a coat has a nice, new coat to be proud of!”

This is the first year Chattanooga Gas joined with Operation Warm to provide winter coats to children in need.

“We are thankful to our friends at Chattanooga Gas and Operation Warm for stepping up and supplying our Harrison Elementary students with a warm token of love, care and even a book on safety,” said Cassandra Latimer, family partnership specialist for Harrison Lower Elementary School. “This donation was a relief to many families in our community.”

Founded in 1998, Pennsylvania-based Operation Warm and its partners have provided more than 3.5 million coats across North America.
