Mary Ann Williams Thaxton, 86, of Rossville, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020. 

She was  member of Frawley Baptist Church. Mary retired from Norfolk Southern after 44 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin D. Thaxton; parents, Buie and Ola McFarland; sister, Betty Williams; two brothers, John McFarland and W.C. McFarland.

Survivors include two daughters, Janet Williams Lowrey and Denise Williams (Chris) Hays; one son, Mark T. (Lee Ann) Williams; three grandchildren, Brian (Jade) Lowrey, Rachel Childers and Madison Williams; one great grandchild, River; two brothers, Donald McFarland and Tommy McFarland; sister, Jenny (Eddie) Saffles.

The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Chattanooga for their loving care.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 21, at the East Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 404 South Moore Road, East Ridge, Tn. The family will receive friends from 1-3 p.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Private burial will be at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, Il. 60601.
