Sandra Lea Weeks
Sandra Lea Weeks, 63, passed away on December 17, 2020 from complications arising from COVID-19.
Sandra was born in Copperhill, Tn. to Luther “Jack” Weeks and Hazel Elizabeth Weeks. Her early childhood was spent listening to her father play the fiddle while she sat in her mother’s arms. She has missed her momma for the past 10 years, and we are so comforted to know that they are reunited again.
After graduating from North Whitfield High School, Sandra attended nursing school and has spent over 40 years as a nurse. Her career has been both a vocation and calling which suited her servant heart.
Above all Sandra would want to be remembered as a Christian who lived a life of faith and shared her love of Jesus with others. She was unwavering in her faith, humble and kind. Her life was a living example of the Bible verse, Ephesians 4:32 — “And be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ.”
Those who love Sandra knew she was happiest when she was in the kitchen, cooking homemade meals and treats for those she loved. Her laughter was contagious, and she always had a smile on her face. She cared for others and loved spending time with her family. Sandra was ever present in the lives of those she cared for and she never missed a concert, a game or special event for her daughter or grandchildren. She liked to be on-the-go and loved traveling to the beach and mountains.
Sandra is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Jesse Jones of Cohutta; grandchildren, Alexander Andrews, Nathaniel Andrews, Lilly Jones and Lanie Jones; brothers and sisters-in-law, Luther and Raquel Weeks, Alan and Anna Weeks, Jeff and Rebecca Weeks, and Eddie and Debbie Weeks; and beloved uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed dearly by her life-long best friend, Debbie York and her previous spouse of 30 years, Craig Burnes. She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Hazel Weeks.
A socially distanced graveside service, officiated by Dr. Charlie Bridges, will be held at United Memorial Gardens in Dalton, Ga. on Monday, Dec. 21, at 1 p.m. Masks will be required to all who attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to an account established for her grandchildren’s education at First Bank of Dalton, P.O. Box 459, Dalton, Georgia, 30722.
