Frank Swopes was born on May 2, 1941 in Decatur, Alabama, to Alberta and Wash Swopes.
He graduated from Lakeside High School in 1960. He was baptized at an early age. He was a former member of Greater Friendship M. B. Church. Frank was an avid golfer and was a member of several golfing associations. He also competed on local, regional and national levels and won many tournaments.
Frank's work history began at J. C. Penney. He later retired from Roadway Express on June 30, 2003, after 32 years of dedicated service. He was a former member of Lookout Mountain Marching Unit #440, Antler Guard Dept. Armistice Lodge #440 IBPOEW.
Frank was preceded in death by sons, Jeffrey Flemister and Kerry Swopes, and daughter, Reba Swopes.
Left to cherish his memory, loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Willie Ella Swopes; daughter, Cynthia White; sons, Frank (Erica) Swopes, Dexter (Patrice)Swopes; sister, Katie Mae Sails, Decatur, AL; brother, Raymond Lattimore; 16 grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held 2-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 4, at the funeral home. A private family funeral will be held. Interment will be in Beautiful Greenwood Cemetery.
