Boyd-Buchanan Boys, Silverdale Girls Lose In Division II-A Region Semifinals

Both Teams To Play In Consolation Games Friday At Notre Dame

The Boyd-Buchanan boys basketball team forced several back to back turnovers early in the fourth quarter to cut the lead to just one Thursday night in the Division II Class A region semifinal game at Notre Dame but the visitors from Knoxville Grace would rally late and win 58-48.  

After cutting the lead to 43-42, the Bucs gave up eight straight points and trailed 50-42 with three minutes left in the game.   The home town crowd was not pleased with the foul count as the Bucs racked up 25 fouls compared to Knox Grace's nine fouls.  Both Eli Evans and Jacob Oliver fouled out for the Bucs. 

Grace was 16 of 27 from the free throw line and Boyd was 1 of 6.  

Grace's BJ Marable led all scorers with 21 points.   Jalen Green had 17 and Josiah Brown had 13. 

The Bucs got 11 points from Ian Johnson and 10 from Ryan Lopez.   

Boyd-Buchanan will play in Friday's consolation game Friday at 5:30 and Knox Grace will play Knox Webb in the championship at 8:30.

KNOX WEBB GIRLS 42 SILVERDALE 39 - The Silverdale girls basketball team lost to Knoxville Webb in their semifinal match up. 

The Lady Seahawks could not hold on to the third quarter lead getting out scored 19-11 in the fourth quarter and lost 42-39.

Webb's Madelyn Ladd had two big fourth quarter three pointers to lead the fourth quarter rally. 

Webb also took advantage of the late fouls by Silverdale, hitting 11 of 15 free throws. 

Webb's Brittney Collier hit all four of her fourth quarter free throws, her only points of the game. 

Ladd had 13 points for Webb.

Only three Silverdale girls score points for the Lady Seahawks. 

Laney Bone led all scorers with 18 points. Marlee Montgomery had 15 points and Tessa Gibson had 6.  

Silverdale advances to play in the consolation Friday night against CAK.  The game is set for 4 p.m. at Notre Dame. 

Knox Webb will play Kings Academy in the girls championship at 7 p.m.
