The Public Relations Society of America Lookout Chapter will welcome Kristie Swink Benson, APR, as its March 2020 luncheon speaker on March 4. The presentation, titled “Swipe Right: How a dating-style app keeps High Museum visitors engaged,” is open to anyone interested in learning more about creative customer engagement, strategic communications planning and how to use communications to fuel interest in the arts.
The High Museum of Art’s award-winning Heartmatch app has visitors swiping right or left, but not for dates. Instead, users swipe based on whether they like pieces of art or not. Then, they receive a custom museum map based on their preferences.
“We aim to bring in top communicators from our area and beyond to provide professional growth for Chattanooga PR and professional leaders,” said Amanda Ellis, vice president of PRSA Lookout. “Benson’s presentation goes beyond communications and using technology effectively to address broader efforts to stay relevant in terms of entertainment, tourism and placemaking.”
Ms. Benson is the director of communications at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta, where she leads a team who support public relations, marketing, creative services and web/new media needs. She has experience in public relations, crisis communications, marketing and strategy. Ms. Benson started her career more than a decade ago in local government and has since provided communications expertise to the mental health and utilities industries before joining the High’s executive leadership team, where she’s fortunate to do work that merges her personal passion for art with her professional passion for communicating.
The luncheon will take place on March 4 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Mountain City Club. Membership in PRSA Lookout Chapter is not required to attend, but tickets are limited. Register online here.
