The Chattanooga Police Department and Chattanooga Fire Department are coming together for a city-wide event to make sure residents have what they need to help keep their loved ones safe in their homes.
On Saturday, February 29, 2020 at 3 PM, CPD will hold a “front porch lineup” at three different fire stations.
"Front porch lineups are a unique practice CPD has been using to strengthen the relationships between officers and the community members they serve, as the officers are briefed at the start of their shift," organizers said.
The police department will be giving away free gun locks at the fire halls and the fire department will be collecting information to provide citizens with free smoke alarms, which will be installed at a later date.
CPD will have their SWAT vehicle, motorcycles and Bomb Squad at the various fire stations and CFD will have fire trucks on display.
This collaboration is designed to promote unity and safety.
The locations where the event will take place include:
- Station 4, 2181 Curtis St. (near Hardy Elementary);
- Station 2, 6144 Dayton Blvd. (Hixson); and
- Station 21, 7700 E Brainerd Road.
Special Olympics TN will also be at Station 4. They were forced to cancel the annual Polar Plunge in Chattanooga due to the snowy weather on Feb. 8, so they’ll be having a Plunge Party on Feb. 29 at 3 p.m. as part of the big community event.
"There will be prizes for top fundraisers and a dunk tank," organizers said. "Please come join us."
