LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant baseball team hit three home runs, but could not dig itself out of a big deficit in a 16-10 loss to Emory on a chilly and windy Friday afternoon on Lookout Mountain.

Covenant (5-3) has lost two straight games, while Emory (7-1) has won six straight.

It was an offense-filled game for both teams as the two teams combined for 26 runs and 28 hits.

Covenant had a 2-0 lead early as the Scots scored twice off Emory ace Jack Brodsky in the first inning.
Josh Harvey delivered an RBI single that plated CJ Edmond and Brooks DuBose followed with an RBI double, one of two doubles on the day for DuBose, to make it 2-0.

Emory founds its groove in the middle innings as the visiting Eagles scored three runs in the second, two in the third, five in the fourth, and four more in the fifth to take a 14-3 lead. Jacob Greene had two hits and five RBIs in the win, while Ryan Adelman collected two hits and three RBIs.

Trailing 14-3, Covenant scored seven straight runs to climb within 14-10 after seven innings. Harvey had an RBI double in the fifth and Ken Alexander capped that inning with a two-run homer to left field, his first of the year.

In the seventh, Covenant scored four runs all with two outs to get within 14-10. Hunter Christian and Andrew Brock hit back-to-back solo homers and Kenny Mills notched his first collegiate hit with a two-run double to center field. The homers were the first of the season for both Christian and Brock, while it was Brock's first career home run.

Emory tacked on single runs in the eighth and ninth to seal the win.

Jackson Heuer (1-1) made the start for the Scots and got the loss. Jack Richards was solid out of the bullpen as he went four innings and allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits with three strikeouts.

Brodsky (2-0) managed to get the win after going 5.2 innings and allowing six runs.
