The Soddy-Daisy Trojans(1-1) lacrosse team came away victorious on Saturday with a 13-6 high win over Murfreesboro (0-1). The game was a rematch of the past two TSLA state championship games.
The last time these two teams faced off, Soddy Daisy came away with an 11-1 victory and a state championship. A 6-goal 2nd quarter pushed the Trojans lead to 7-2 at the half. Senior attackman Robert Holekamp led the Trojans with 6 goals, 2 assists, and 6 ground balls.
Fellow seniors Ethan Hyde and midfielder AJ Rogers scored 2 goals apiece. Sophomore attackman Paul Schofield scored 2 goals and sophomore midfielder Sam Schofield also scored. Ethan Hyde led the team with 3 assists while Senior LSM Brandon Hale led the team with 6 ground balls. Freshman goal keeper Jamison Koch collected 9 saves in the win. Attackman Ian Schlater led Murfreesboro in scoring with 3 goals. Senior midfielder Jack Clark also garnered 2 goals in the loss.
The win is the first for new head coach Andrew Karpinko.
The Trojans next game is at home (Middle Valley Park) against cross-town rival Signal Mountain next Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at 6:00 p.m.
