A wonderful wife, mom, nana, friend and neighbor, Brenda Glass, 73, of Cleveland, went to be with the Lord March 27, 2020. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and friends.
Brenda was born in 1946 to Eugene and Blanche Barnes. She was married to her high school sweetheart, David, for 53 years. David preceded her departure by two years.
Brenda worked as a Criminal Court clerk for more than a decade. In the 1980s and 1990s, she encouraged others as part of her office manager job at GreenLeaf Mental Health. Throughout her adult life she and David also built and renovated homes.
Brenda served at her church, New Salem Baptist, for almost 50 years. She was an organist, singer, Sunday school teacher and, most-importantly, a great encourager for all she encountered.
In later years, Brenda could be found riding her John Deere Gator around the neighborhood, often with more than one neighbor or pet on board. She enjoyed working and playing outside, around the pool and in the garden.
Brenda leaves a cherished legacy with all of her family. We are eternally grateful for her well-lived life as a wife, mom, grandmother and servant to the community and friends. She made days brighter by offering encouraging words and helping hands.
Brenda is survived by her daughter, Shawn Ballew (Jeff); son, Keith Glass (Keum); grandchildren, Mandy Dixon, Ciera Passmore (Kevin), Maddie Ballew, Kaleigh Glass and Konner Glass; great-grandchild, Carter; her brother, Pat Barnes; and her furry Shih Tzu, Fearless.
David and Brenda attended New Salem Baptist for many decades. A celebration of life will be at New Salem Baptist Church in Cleveland at some point in the future. Brenda’s granddaughter, Mandy, will sing.
