Dorothy Nell Chase
Dorothy Nell Chase, 87, died Friday, March 27, 2020 at home surrounded by her family.
Dorothy Nell lived her entire life in Cleveland and was married for over 65 years to James Burke Chase. During their years together she had three children, Jeff, Janice and Joe. Jeff is married to Denise (Clay) Chase and lives in San Jose, Ca. Jeff has two daughters, Jamie Chase lives in Arizona and Jodi (Chase) Collins lives in Michigan with husband Rick and their three children, Zoe, Madison and Kadence Collins. Janice (Chase) Rice is married to Ronald Rice Jr. and they live in Cleveland and have one daughter Wendy (Rice)Thomas. Wendy lives in Cleveland with husband John and their two children, Madison and Landon Thomas. Dorothy Nell’s favorite son Joe, lives in Cleveland with his wife Sophia (Laurance) Chase and three children, Andy, Abby and Alex Chase.
We know that Dorothy Nell is in Heaven watching over her three children, six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and her very special niece Brenda (Chesnutt) Hunley.
Dorothy Nell was the granddaughter of W.F. Bryant one of the founders of the Church of God. She was a dedicated life-long member of the North Cleveland Church of God. Born the fourth of seven children to Ernest and Nell (Brown) Bryant. Dorothy Nell’s brothers include Buster, Billy, Jimmy, Gene Bryant and her sisters Elizabeth Chesnutt and Ernestene Whittaker. She is survived by Jimmy Bryant and Ernestene Whittaker.
Dorothy worked at the Cleveland Glass Company as well as Jones Flower Shop for over 20 years while raising her family. She also worked for her sister Elizabeth at the Kiddie Korner Children’s Shop part time for many years and worked part time for her other sister Ernestene at the Modern Bridal Shops in Chattanooga.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Randi her hospice nurse for her professional and compassionate care and Hospice of Chattanooga for their support.
The family wishes to express our appreciation to everyone that was a friend and neighbor of Dorothy Nell but due to the pandemic that is happening right now we will only hold a private graveside service for family only.
