Elaine Margaret Underwood, 78, of Trenton, passed away March 31, 2020. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister.
Widowed at 38 years old, Elaine exemplified great strength and courage, working two jobs and raising her nine children. Her family admits she was the strongest woman they know.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Wallace Underwood; her companion and friend, James Guthrie; sons, David and Kevin Underwood; and parents, Ernest and Ada DeFord.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley (James) Klein; sons, Robert (Julie) Underwood, Wally (Sue) Underwood, Patrick Underwood, Bryan (Tiffanie) Underwood, Miles Underwood and Chris Underwood; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Betty LaBean, Dorothy Tapia, Ruth Clements, Carol Diamond and Linda Dabrowski; brothers, Edward DeFord and Eugene DeFord; and nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will schedule a Celebration of Elaine's Life at a later date.
