Betty Ruth Gill Ensley, 87, of Hixson, entered her heavenly home on March 29, surrounded by her loving family.

Betty was born on Dec. 8, 1932, in Bradley County, to Melvin and Sidna Gill.  Thanks to the love and companionship of her many cousins, she never even realized she was an only child.  She graduated from Bradley Central High School in 1950, then soon married her high school sweetheart, Bert W. Ensley, on January 17th, 1953.  They lived their entire married life in Hamilton County.

Betty was a faithful member of Abba’s House where she was recognized for her 60 years as a Sunday School teacher.  She also enjoyed playing the piano for various churches in her younger years.

Betty was employed in the office of the Chattanooga Hamilton County Medical Society for many years before she went to work for Dr. Malcolm Daniel as receptionist in his office until she retired to care for her mother.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, her parents, and her son-in-law, Glenn Miller.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her daughter, Linda Miller and her son, Bryan Ensley (Melinda), her grandchildren, Geoffrey Miller, Kate Ensley Tickell (Bruce), all of Hixson, Ryan Miller (Sarah) of Whitwell, and Megan Ensley Samples (Lochlin) of Atlanta.  She is also survived by her six much loved great-grandchildren, and her long time special friend, Hazel Vickers.

Due to the current health crisis, the family will have a private burial for Betty. There will be a Celebration of Life service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Abba’s House, 5208 Hixson Pike, Hixson, Tn. 37343.

Arrangements are under the care of the North Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 5401 Highway 153, Hixson.
