Walter L. Walker, 74, departed this life on April 4, 2020.

He was born on Jan. 15, 1946, in Chattanooga to the late Dorris E. and Cynthia E. (Mathis) Walker.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Larry D. Walker.

A graduate of East Ridge High School, he attended the University of Chattanooga before serving in the United States Air Force. Upon returning to Chattanooga, he completed his education and graduated from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Walt was a Certified Public Accountant. He was employed as a controller for most of his career, retiring from M & M Industries. He was a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Tennessee Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Institute of Management Accountants.

He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Left behind to cherish Walt’s memory are his wife, Mary Helen Walker; children, Neal (Christy) Walker, Eric (Michele) Walker, Greg Walker, and Myra (David) Adams; grandchildren, Anna (Tanner) Kuntz, Cody Walker and his Fiancee, Christian Lackey, Sarah Walker, Jake Walker, and Alex, Abby, and Ashley Canady; and great-grandson, Eric Kuntz.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, there will be no visitation. The family will have a private service with Minister James Lewis officiating. Burial will follow in the Chattanooga National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Walt’s memory be made to either Hospice of Chattanooga, 4411 Oakwood Drive, Chattanooga, Tn. 37416 or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 7625 Hamilton Park Dr # 6, Chattanooga, Tn. 37421.

Arrangements are under the care of Chattanooga Funeral Home Crematory and Florist East Chapel, 404 South Moore Rd. East Ridge, Tn. 37412.
