Mary Magdeline Tolliver, 76, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2020, in a local hospital.  

 

She was a 1962 graduate of Howard High School and continued her education at Chattanooga State.  She retired from HCA Diagnostic Hospital as a Certified Nursing Assistant.  Mary was a member of SPOLIWA Bible Baptist Church.  

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble Edward Tolliver, Jr. and parents, William and Vennie Cole. 

 

Survivors include her son, Darnell Tolliver; daughters, Judy Tolliver, Brenda Tolliver, and Belinda Tolliver; grandchildren, Brandon Elder, Dominique Harris, Schachle Tolliver, Brianna Elder, Bryan Rivers, and Sebastian Tolliver; great-grandchildren, Iyahna Elder, JacqKarrion Tolliver, and Ja’Zaryah Jackson, all of Chattanooga; brother, Arthur (Erma) Cole of Wildwood, GA; sisters, Louise Gaines, Geraldine Strickland, Elsie Mae Brown, and Dorothy Silmon, all of Chattanooga; dear friend, Sheila Rivers of Chattanooga; and a host of other relatives and friends. 

 

She will lie in state on Thursday, April 9, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home. 

 

Burial will be on Friday, April 10, in Highland Memorial Gardens.
