Viviano, Dr. William R., Sr. (Cleveland)

  • Sunday, April 5, 2020
Dr. William R. Viviano, Sr., 74, a resident of Cleveland for 25 years, passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2020, at a local nursing home. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of the late John and Amelia Viviano.

In his younger years, in order to provide for his family, he worked as a steel mill crane operator and as a general laborer. Although a car accident in 1988 claimed much of his mobility and he was no longer able to work those physically demanding jobs, his mind remained sharp and allowed him to further his education and pursue his dream of becoming a Christian counselor.

In addition to a bachelors and two masters degrees, he earned a doctorate of psychology in Christian counseling and a doctorate of theological studies.

He was later self-employed as a Christian family counselor and finally served as a school psychologist in the Marion County School System.

He was devoted to his family, was a member of the Hopewell Baptist Church, an avid reader and “people” person. He always had a story to tell, no matter the situation or who was listening.

He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Linda Miele Viviano; son, William “Billy” Viviano; daughter, Margaret “Maggie” Viviano Webb; son, Jason Viviano; daughter-in-law, Christy Rose Viviano; daughter, Earon Viviano Miller; son-in-law, Jason Miller; daughter, Glori Lynne Viviano; grandsons, William “Billy” Viviano and Harrison Wingard; granddaughters, Jaylin Viviano, Alexandria Wingard, Mia Viviano, Jess Alghawi and Jasmine Webb; and great-granddaughters, Destiny and Harper.

He was an only child by birth, but he was blessed, throughout his life, with an abundance of brothers and sisters in Christ.

Arrangements are being made through Companion Funeral Home in Cleveland.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to assist with final expenses can be made by contacting the family.

Because of government guidelines limiting group meetings at this time, there will be no formal funeral services; however, a “celebration of life” service for Dr. William R Viviano, Sr. will be announced by the family at a later date.

You are encouraged to share a memory of William and/or your personal condolences with his family by visiting his memorial webpage and guestbook at www.companionfunerals.com.

Companion Funeral Home is honored to assist his family with these arrangements.
