PULASKI, Tenn. – Martin Methodist Executive Director of Athletics Jeff Bain officially announced the hiring of Jackson Lenoir as Volleyball Head Coach Wednesday afternoon. Lenoir, a graduate of Arts & Sciences in Chattanooga where he played both basketball and tennis, replaces Alison Williams, who resigned last month after she was named head coach at NCAA Division II Lincoln Memorial in Harrogate, Tennessee.

Lenior comes to Martin Methodist with over six years of coaching experience at th collegiate and club levels.

Most recently, Lenoir served as interim head coach at NCAA Division II Christian Brothers in Memphis, Tennessee. He spent the last two seasons with the Bucs as assistant coach before serving as the interim earlier in 2020.

“We are very excited to announce Jackson Lenoir as our new volleyball coach,” Bain said. “We had over 30 candidates apply and Coach Lenoir was our clear choice from the start of the process. Jackson checks off all the boxes that we set for our goals, which were region and state familiarity, a high visible energy to lead and recruit, a strong volleyball background, and an established history of character and leadership. Jackson is someone who has a unique blend of volleyball success that can also relate to today’s generation. We look forward to helping Jackson launch his head coaching career while giving him the tools that he needs to be successful.”

Prior to his time at CBU, Lenoir served as graduate assistant at NAIA Briar Cliff (Iowa), where he helped coach a total of nine all-conference players between the men and women’s programs. Lenoir also helped coach an AVCA All-American during his time at Briar Cliff. Lenoir also served as student assistant coach at NAIA Milligan, where he helped guide the women’s program to its respective conference tournament title match in 2015.

“I am excited and thankful to be the next volleyball coach at Martin Methodist College,” Lenoir said. “First, I want thank God for opening up this door and for His plan in this process. I would like to thank President Dr. Mark LaBranche and Athletic Director Jeff Bain for the great opportunity to join the RedHawk family. I look forward to building on the foundation of success laid by Coach Williams and want to continue a winning program the community can embrace. I am excited to get to work! Go RedHawks!”

Jackson was best known locally for his tennis skills, finishing runner-up in the state his junior year in the state tournament. He was also a standout for Mark Dragoo’s basketball Patriots. He played tennis collegiately at Milligan and was a four-time all-conference performer and served as the team captain his final two seasons. It was at Milligan where he first played club volleyball his final semester of eligibility. He transferred to Briar Cliff and played Middle Blocker and Hitter for the most successful team in school history. He led the team in service aces, hitting percentage, and was third in kills.

Lenoir comes from a very accomplished athletic family. He is the son of Kristy and Patrick Lenoir, both of whom starred at the University of Tennessee. Patrick was a starting tackle for the Vol football team from 1988-91 and a member of the SEC champs in 1990 that won the Sugar Bowl. He was also played on the 1989 Cotton Bowl team which finished ranked fifth nationally and the 1991 Fiesta Bowl team. Kristy was an All-SEC volleyball star for the Lady Vols and still ranks in the top 10 all-time for kills and attacks. Kristy later served as a very successful coach at East Hamilton and CSLA.

Jackson’s brother Bailey was an All-SOCON selection football player at UT-Chattanooga and his sister Emma is all-time kills leader at Christian Brothers after a standout career at East Hamilton. His late uncle Rob was a standout football player at Duke where he played for Steve Spurrier.

Lenoir is currently an MBA candidate at Christian Brothers after graduating from Milligan with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration before getting his Master of Arts in Sports management from Briar Cliff.
