John Ebb Stewart, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2020.

 

His wife of 50 years, Mary Ann Knies Stewart survives him. He was the youngest son of the late Milton Lindsay and Ruby Eslick Stewart. John Ebb was born on February 10, 1932, at Coldwater Creek, Tennessee, but spent most of his life in the Chattanooga area.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Clara, and brothers, Paul, Fred, and George.

 

He is survived by nieces, Peggy (Frank) Reeves, Joan (Brian) Mickles, Claire (David) Hawley, Amy (Pierce) Yates, and Sandra (Randy) Ramsden. He is also survived by five great-nieces and six great-nephews.

 

John Ebb graduated from Hiwassee College in 1951. He received a B.S. in Education from the University of Chattanooga in 1953 and an M.Ed. in administration and supervision in 1955. He was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He worked 35 years for McGraw-Hill Book Company in sales. John Ebb was an active member of First-Centenary United Methodist Church and the Morgan Sunday School Class.

 

Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, there will be a private graveside service at Forest Hills Cemetery on Saturday, April 11, with a celebration of life gathering in the future.

 

If desired, memorials may be given to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or First-Centenary United Methodist Church.
