Former Cleveland State basketball standout Demonte Person is officially off to a four-year college to continue his basketball career, signing with Blue Mountain College, an NAIA school in Blue Mountain, Miss., on Thursday.

Person averaged 8.3 points a game and 4.3 assists per game in his career for the Cougars and was a huge part of helping them claim the 2019 TCCAA Championship and win a game in the NJCAA National Tournament. In 2020, he was named to the TCCAA All-Conference Second Team and also named Cleveland State’s Dr.

D.F. Adkisson Male Athlete of the Year. He leaves Cleveland State as the program’s career assist leader.

“Demonte was the catalyst last year in our team winning the Region Championship and advancing to the National Tournament,” said Head Coach Lee Cigliano. “I was even more impressed with him this past year when he led the team without two of our starters who suffered season-ending injuries. He was as enjoyable to work with as a coach could ask for in a player. I will miss him and know he will do very well at Blue Mountain.”
