Jacquelynn Northcutt Wattenbarger
Jacquelynn Northcutt Wattenbarger, 86, a resident of Cleveland, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, May 21, 2020 at a local healthcare facility.
She was a member and taught Sunday School for many years at Broad Street United Methodist Church. She worked for the Cleveland City Schools as the supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction and was in charge of in-service training and developed the Gifted and Talented program for students. She was also the principal at Blythe Avenue Elementary School and served on the Cleveland City School Board.
She wrote a column for the Banner called “A Brighter Child” for which she won the Tennessee School Bell Award and was also involved with Cleveland 100, Empty Stocking Fund, March of Dimes, Habitat for Humanity, United Way, and served on the Advisory Board of CSCC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Pledger Wattenbarger; parents, Leonard Northcutt and Marie Duncan Northcutt; and sister, Ouida Lollis.
She is survived by her children, Jayne Bancroft and husband Matt of Loveland, Co., and Bill Adams and wife Meredith of Meigs County; seven grandchildren, Scott, Caitlin and Hayley Bancroft, and Lucas, Max, Aubrey, and Blair Adams; one great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members also survive.
A celebration of her life will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28, in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Dr. Allan Lockerman officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony and the playing of bagpipes concluding the service.
The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service.
