James Cook
James “Jim” Cook, Sr., 81, of Hixson, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2020.
Mr. Cook was born in Sylacauga, Alabama. He was formerly employed in the grocery business then worked at Aetna and American National Life Insurance, before retiring from Cook Insurance. He had a great sense of humor and will be remembered as being a very compassionate person, devoted husband and loving father. His interests included gardening, wood working, fishing, music and his puppies.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Ruby Cook; brothers, Rex and Morris Cook; and stepson, Timothy “Critter” Jennings.
Surviving are his wife of 35 years, June Jennings Cook; children, James Cook, Jr., Connie Smith and Kay (Drew) Nelson; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, at the funeral home. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. Burial will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
