Foster Grandparent At Erlanger Hospital

Willie Mae Lawson, 94, passed away at a local nursing facility on June 19, 2020.

She was born in Chattanooga, and educated in the local school system.  She was a lifelong member of Union Grove Baptist Church.  Before her health failed, she was a foster grandparent at Erlanger Hospital.  She also worked as a nursing assistant and a domestic worker.

She was preceded in death by her husband, L. David Lawson, Sr.; parents, Adeline and Clifford Church; daughters, Edwine Trollinger, Ninette Walker and Junell Lawson; grandson, David M. Lawson.

Survivors include five devoted children, Carolyn Hawthorne, L. David (Sarah) Lawson, Jr., Patricia Lawson, Jerry Lawson and Donice (Janice) Lawson. She has been blessed with a host of grandchildren  and great grandchildren and very good friend, Mildred Jones.

The family would like to thank, with very special gratitude, the Alexian Brothers and the staff of Standifer Place (especially the dining room) for making her last earthly days comfortable.

She will lie in state from 2-6 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, at the funeral home. A private funeral service will be held with Pastor, Glenn P. Taylor, and Eulogist. Interment will be at Chattanooga National.
