John H. Climer, Jr.
John H. Climer, Jr., age 76, a life-long resident of Bradley County, passed away Monday, June 1, 2020, in a Chattanooga hospital from injuries sustained in a farming accident.
John retired as an electro-mechanical technician from Cleveland Utilities, Water Division on July 1, 2008, with 35 years and 10 months of service. “John Boy” loved spending time outdoors on his tractor, the lawnmower or one of his two golf carts. He could often be found at Mr. Fix-it Auto checking in with the boys at the shop. Of the evenings he would go to Wal-mart with his “clicker” and spend hours taking a census of the evening’s shoppers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John “Herman” Climer Sr. and Alma Ruth Lemons Climer; and also his wife of 57 years, Nellie Lucille Earwood Climer.
He is survived by daughter, Mitzi Climer Shields and her husband Josh, and their son, Caleb N. Taylor of Gatlinburg; son, Rodney Climer and his children “the twins” Shane and Shandi Climer; brother, Bobby Climer and his wife Nancy; along with several nieces and nephews.
A Remembrance of Life Service will be celebrated Saturday, June 6, at 3 p.m. at Jim Rush Funeral and Cremation Services Wildwood Avenue Chapel with Rev. Hershell Earwood and Rev. Caleb N. Taylor officiating. The interment will follow at Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery with Bobby Climer, Tim Earwood, Michael Townsend, Dewayne Mikel and Chris Earwood serving as casket bearers.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 6, from 12-3 p.m. at the funeral home.
