Robert Lee White, 85, of Chattanooga, passed away on Friday, July 10, 2020, at his residence.
He was employed by SCT Yarns for 30 years and Citizens Savings and Loan. He was a faithful member of Mt. Canaan Baptist where he served as a bus driver, sang with the male chorus, mass choir, and served on the usher board. Robert was a part of the Taylor Funeral Home family.
He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney White; father, Henry White; mother, Frankie Davidson; brothers, Bennie White and Lewis White.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Martha White; sons, Robert (Wanda) White of Chattanooga, Larry (Marine) White of Eufaula, Al., Ronald White and Tyrus Truss, both of Chattanooga; daughters, LaTonya White of Chattanooga, Patricia White and Faye White, both of Huntsville, Al., and Maxine (Anthony) Matthews of Madison, Al.; stepdaughter, Gwendolyn (Jeffrey) Smith; 18 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorleen (James) Witchard, Doretha (Thomas) Ross, Juanita White, all of Huntsville, Gertha (Johnny) Griffin of Triana, Al., and Glenda White of Huntsville; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Robert will lie in state on Wednesday, July 15, from 12:30-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
A family service will be on Thursday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel with Pastor Ternae Jordan, Sr. as the eulogist.
Burial will be in Hamilton Memorial Gardens.
