Juan Eligio Garcia Vazquez, 82 of Cleveland, passed away July 12, 2020 at his home.

He was born in Fajardo, Puerto Rico on Dec. 1, 1937, to the late Venancio Garcia Rosario and Carlotta Vazquez.

Juan migrated to Brooklyn, New York from Puerto Rico where he developed his passion for music and singing. He especially loved playing instruments like the timbales and congas. He performed with some of salsas’ greatest musicians like Hector Lavoe, Tito Puente, Richie Ray, and Bobby Cruze. Juan also worked for the Coca Cola Company, and Duracell Battery Company for many years.

His passion for music was so great that he joined a band of retired musicians, and they had contracts throughout the entire southeast of Tennessee. He was a devout follower of Christ, and was a member of The Hispanic Church of God of Prophecy.

Juan is survived by his wife of 24 years, Eladia Feliciano; brother, Sicinio Garcia Vazquez; sister, Maria Mercedes Garcia Vazquez; children, Juan Garcia Jr, Ana Garcia, Nancy Garcia, Jay Francis Garcia; step-daughters, Ivette M. McCollum, Joanne Astarita, Patricia Valentin, Susan Jane Crespo, Cynthia Ann Whitworth, Diana Luz Resto, and Nancy Marisol Crespo-Garcia; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. He was greatly loved and will be forever missed.
