James Alexander
James L. Alexander, 88, of Chattanooga, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020, at home.
He was born April 8, 1932 to the late William H. and Lacy Robinson Alexander.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary Cox Alexander. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Margaret Alexander, and brother, Dr. Wallace Alexander, along with sisters and brothers-in-law, Tommy and Frances Philpot, Buddy and Hazel Cox, Luke and Corrine Cox, Lois and Glen Powe, Buddy Lamb, Charles and Jean Cox, Martin Harris, Edna and Charles Ballard, Barbara Turner, Lewis Cox, and great-granddaughter, Margaret Ann Pilkinton.
He is survived by his daughters, Connie (Jim) Pilkinton and Cynthia (Gene) Maroon; grandchildren, Rachel (Warren) Musser, Dr. Mark (Erica) Pilkinton, Mary Jo Ross, Nicholas (Courtney) Betancourt; great-grandchildren, Cheyenne and Dakota Hulsey, Savannah Betancourt, Maya and Isla Ross, and Nathan and Evan Pilkinton.
He was a long time member of the Tyner Church of Christ, and attended East Brainerd Church of Christ for many years.
He was a veteran serving in the United States Navy for four years, worked in sheet metal industry with his father, and was with the FAA for 35 years.
Due to the current health crisis, all local and state mandates will be in place during the visitation at the funeral home and service at the cemetery.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, at Tennessee-Georgia Memorial Park in Rossville.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 8, at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, 8214 East Brainerd Road.
