James Claude Vickers
James Claude Vickers, 93 of Ooltewah, passed away Wednesday, August 19, 2020.
He was born November 3, 1926 in Manchester, Tn., to the late Pervie Crosslin Vickers and James Horace Vickers, and had nine siblings. He married the late L.C. Keele Vickers in 1948 after serving in Japan during WWII. They moved to Chattanooga in 1948 where he worked at DuPont until he retired. Claude and L. C. were married for 55 years and attended Ridgeview Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for many years. After retirement, he was a volunteer van driver for the VA, transporting veterans to medical appointments in Murfreesboro.
Claude is survived by his daughter Karen (Jerry) Eaves and son Tim (Robin) Vickers of Ooltewah; six grandchildren, Lauren Eaves Fletcher (Murfreesboro), Jason Eaves (Chicago), Brandon Eaves (Biloxi), Meredith (Drew) Hardin (Charleston, SC), and Malori (Bradley) Marks and Madison (Daniel) Harjes of Chattanooga; two sisters, Lura Green and Naomi Morrison of Manchester; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private service with military honors.
