Joan Evans
Joan Davis Evans, 65, of Chattanooga, passed away on Saturday, July 25, 2020, in a local hospital.
She was in the Marching 100 Band at Howard High School and was a 1972 graduate of Brainerd High School. She received her associate degree in 2006 from Chattanooga State College.
Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Bell Davis and grandparents, Foster and Estelle Middlebrooks, Jr.
Survivors include her children, La Van and Aaron Nelson, Jamie and Fantasy Evans, Maxine Davis, Joseph Rutledge, and James Polk, Jr.; 26 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; father, George Davis; sisters, Sarah (David) Lawson, Maxine Davis, Betty Shaw of Ellenwood, GA, and Barbara Bouie of Chattanooga; uncle, Eldridge Middlebrooks; aunts, Louise Tuggle, Lossie Mae Middlebrooks, and Mary Armstrong; and a host of other relatives and friends.
She will lie in state on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 1-5 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Home.
Family services will be on Friday, Aug. 7, at noon in the chapel with Pastor J. W. Cole as the eulogist. Burial will be in Lakewood Memory Gardens, East.
