Kristen Anna Duke Nickels, age 20, and her husband, Tommy Nickels, age 19, both departed this life together on July 29, 2020.

Kristen was born in Georgetown, S.C. on Jan. 11, 2000.  She was a 2019 graduate of North Murray High School and had recently began work for Liberty National in Dalton.  Prior to that she had been employed by CVS Pharmacy on Cleveland Highway in Dalton as a pharmacy tech.

Kristen is survived by her parents, Stephanie and Mitchell Duke; sister, Kayla Duke; brother, Christian Duke; grandparents, Legrand and Sandra Norton all of Crandall, Elaine and Paul Ronald Duke of Florence, South Carolina; uncles and aunts, Bryan and Melody Norton of Chatsworth, Crystal Norton of Calhoun, Jeff Duke of Florence, South Carolina and Jeannie Duke of Charlotte, North Carolina, Whitney and Patrick Jaco of Florence, South Carolina; cousins, Caleb, Cheyenne, Tara, and Laura Norton, Bryce and Brooklyn Bynum, Madison, Tristan, Hannah Grace, and Sadie Rose Duke, Hunter, Morgan, Ezra Jaco; special friends, Amanda and Heather Noland of Crandall, and her special best friend, Amanda Wiles of Clayton, North Carolina; mother-in-law, Chrystie Nickels of Chatsworth; nieces and nephews, Clarysa and Cambryah Hosier, and Klayton Webb; sisters-in-law, Charlee King, Ashlee King, and Desiree Nickels.

A service to celebrate the life of Kristen Tommy Nickels[ will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. in Ponders Melrose Chapel.  Reverend Benjamin Daniel and Reverend Ryan Miller will officiate.  Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.  Bryan Norton, Jody Jones, Ben Daniel, Matt Taylor, Dillion Webb, James Patterson, David Price, Joey Jones, Allen Cochran, Austin Brown, Matthew Peterson, Richard Lynch, Jonathan Sosebee, Tanner Sosebee, Ricky Duckett, and Ryan Duckett will all be honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5-9 p.m.

Due to the national health crisis those attending services are recommended to wear masks and observe social distancing policies.
