Tommy J.C. Nickels, 19 years of age, and his wife, Kristen Duke Nickels, 20 years of age, both departed this life together on July 29, 2020.

Tommy was born in Dalton, Ga. on June 7, 2001.  Along with his wife he was also preceded in death by grandparents, Tommy and Betty Nickels; and uncles, Bobby Nickels and Michael Donovan.  Tommy was a 2018 graduate of Pleasant Valley School.  At the time of his death he was working at Liberty National in Dalton along with his wife

Tommy is survived by his mother, Chrystie King Nickels of Chatsworth; father, Jeffery Nickels of Virginia; sisters, Charlee King, Ashlee King, both of Chatsworth, and Desiree Nickels of Virginia; grandparents, Rodney and Connie Duckett of Crandall, Charles and Judy Crider of Dalton; aunt and uncle, Holly and Chris Nickels; great-aunts and great-uncles, Rebecca Crider and Family, Ben and Judy Daniel and Family, Steven and Loretta Bryson and Family, Jody and Irene Jones and Family; nieces and nephews, Clarysa and Cambryah Hosier, and Klayton Webb; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mitchell and Stephanie Duke of Crandall; brother-in-law, Christian Duke; sister-in-law, Kayla Duke.

A service to celebrate the life of Tommy and Kristen Nickels will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 11 a.m. in Ponders Melrose Chapel.  Reverend Benjamin Daniel and Reverend Ryan Miller will officiate.  Interment will follow at West Hill Cemetery.  Bryan Norton, Jody Jones, Ben Daniel, Matt Taylor, Dillon Webb, James Patterson, David Price, Joey Jones, Allen Cochran, Austin Brown, Matthew Peterson, Richard Lynch, Jonathan Sosebee, Tanner Sosebee, Ricky Duckett, and Ryan Duckett will all be honored to serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5-9 p.m.

Due to the national health crisis those attending services are recommended to wear masks and observe social distancing policies.
