While we are considering everything that is going on in our country, we should be mindful of the fact that our government has a double standard. They decry looting and looters at any available podium. But they aren't discussing the fact that while some 40 million people filed for unemployment during this crisis, they were busy bailing out corporate America, yet again.
They provided paycheck protection money to companies that did not meet the criteria, and in some cases to companies who could afford to pay their executives $2 million a year. This while the modern day equivalent of soup lines were miles long in some states
Our leaders talk about suspending capital gains taxes while they continue to allow employers to misclassify employees so the don't have to pay overtime, and they continue to allow predatory lending practices to go unchecked. Some of these lending practices are the cause of young people coming out of college with no hope of ever becoming debt free.
The point is, your neighbor isn't your enemy. Follow the money.
I liken the current talking points to the Great and Powerful OZ saying "pay no attention to the man behind the curtain". We had better start paying attention.
